Woombah Wildcats bagging record numbers of toads

The Woombah Wildcats volunteers are finding so many toads around Woombah that it is very concerning. In 2 nights they have collected close to 200 cane toads in the Woombah township alone. if there is anyone in the Woombah area that can help out, please email sharon@cvcia.org.au so I can put you in touch with the Woombah toad coordinator. We don't want to see cane toads in the Iluka World Heritage Rainforest so come on, help out please! Cheers, Sharon.

Saturday 7th January 2012 - Woombah Wildcats launch their toad season

Bob and I had our first Toad outing on Saturday 7th Jan 2012. There were four volunteers and we were out for two and half hours. Our catch was a total of 75 Toads. There has been an increase at Woombah Woods since last season.        

It was a good result for our first outing. We have also found 5 one year old females in our own backyard which we haven't had before.

Woombah Wildcats - 04/03/11

Bob and Marie trekked out last Friday and in one small section of Woombah, picked up 86 cane toads in under 3 hours. They found some big animals too, as can be seen by these photos. Thanks Bob and Marie.

26/02/11 - Woombah Wildcats hit new high

Bob reports the Woombah Wildcats went out last Saturday night along Garretts Lane and picked up a massive 234 cane toads. That is both impressive and very disturbing to find that many there. Bob and Woombah Wildcats, you are doing an amazing, very important area. Well done.

Bob and his team of secret CIA operatives have been hitting Woombah hard. They have been out twice last week and bagged a huge 110 cane toads in 2 nights - well done Wildcats!! Here are a few toad photos that Bob has sent thru.

Toadbust 11 - 12/02/11 - Woombah report

Now we are talking! 3 teams out in 3 different areas in one weekend. I'm sleeping a little better this week ;).
Bob sent in this report:

"We had Marie, Brian and myself plus two landholders on the chase, which worked out quite well, with plenty of excitement at the number of catches. We only missed about 5-6 toads, which was pretty good. The numbers collected for the night, which was around three properties off Island View Rd and dam area ... 110 toads in 2 hrs. We may have a night during the week and/or next Saturday night to try and catch up on Garretts Lane area and Goodwood Island area, see how the weather goes?? and chasers, till next time it 'RRRibitt from Toad Haul alias BOB".

Toad Haul! How did I not think of that?! Great work Woombah crew. So toadbusters, if you are looking for something to do next weekend you could go to Warregah Island Friday night, Woombah Saturday night or Yamba Roundup Sunday night. Or you could do all three!! Cheers, Sharon.

Toadbust 7 - Woombah - 29/1/11

Well done Woombah guys! Bob led a mighty crew of 6 volunteers out at Woombah last Saturday night and caught an impressive 48 toads. Some new volunteers as well. And the last word is from Bob... ribbit!
